We're setting up from 1.30 and need people to set up, man the stalls and tidy up. We're currently short on numbers and would like to be able to run all the stalls. Let us know if you can help.
Get your bake on! We need cakes, biscuits and mince pies for the produce stall. Please bring to the home economics room on Friday morning.
Please bring in your good quality bric-a-brac on Friday morning to the school hall.
We're running a toy tombola this year. If you have any brand new, unwanted gifts, please bring them to the home economics room this week.

The PTA would like to invite you to join us on the evening of Thursday 18th May. We will start with a short AGM to get the business out of the way at 7.30pm and then kick off the more social element afterwards.
Everyone is invited to join the AGM (social!) - why not bring a friend? As parents, you are all members of the PTA, and this is your chance to decide who will represent you - committee members are voted in at the AGM.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the committee or would like to find out more about it then please do get in touch.

Next week is creativity week and we are holding our Spring Music Festival. Wear Something Funny for Money!!
On Friday 24th March, pupils are invited to wear funny clothes, accessories, hair styles, etc in exchange for a donation to Comic Relief. Details of the charity can be found at http://www.comicrelief.com.
The day is not compulsory - children can wear their school uniform, as usual, if preferred. Alternatively, own clothes can be worn for a donation (but we'd prefer there to be a funny element in the spirit of the day!)

We’re pleased to announce that Broadwater Down Primary has agreed to participate in an NHS public health project called ‘Inspire’, which aims to improve treatment of asthma in children.
We need your help though! The project uses a free absence-reporting app called Studybugs. Whether or not your child suffers from asthma, please could you download the app at https://studybugs.com/about/parents, or register on the Studybugs website, and use it to tell us whenever your child’s ill and unable to attend school.
You can read more about the Inspire project at https://everychildisdifferent.org/inspire. As well as helping improve treatment of asthma, Studybugs also helps us track what illnesses are going around and is a convenient, efficient and secure method for reporting absence – so it should make life a little bit easier all around.

On Friday 3rd February in we will be taking part in Dress up for Digits and the children are invited to wear an item of clothing with a number on it (football shirt, cap, netball shirt or even a onesie!). Or get more creative as a dice or calculator, see http://www.theschoolrun.com/no-sew-mathematical-costumes-for-maths-week for lots of brilliant ideas on how to make your own outfit. To help raise money for the NSPCC, we are asking for a suggested donation of £1, and we’d love everyone in the school to take part in this special event.

Friday 18th November is Children in Need. Children may come to school dressed as a superhero, with Pudsey related accessories (e.g. headband, ears) or in own clothes. We are asking for a £1 donation for Children in Need.

Parent Council will be meeting this week. We will discuss the role of the School Council as well as looking at the year ahead. We would like to remind you about the Parent & Friends Meetings on 13th October. We are holding sessions at 9.15am and 7.30pm and they are an informal opportunity to hear some new ideas for the future of the parents and friends group and to have your say. As you know, we will be celebrating our harvest festival next Tuesday at 9.15am. Please bring any produce for distribution to our local food bank Nourish, on Monday 10th October. If you have a baby or small child, and would like to come along to our rehearsal on Monday at 1.30pm instead, please do join us. This will allow parents to enjoy the children's performances on the Tuesday without interruption. If you come along on the Tuesday with small children, please choose seating to allow for easy exit if your child requires time away to be settled.

We have made the decision to postpone sports day to the planned reserve day of Thursday 7th July. The field is currently unsafe for sporting activities due to recent weather.
Apologies but unfortunately, we do not control the weather or drainage of our soil!
Clubs will run as normal after school, and school lunch will remain as planned for Sports Day i.e. a packed lunch. Even if you did not complete the form for a school packed lunch, we can still provide this tomorrow as a school dinner.

This week, on Wednesday 23rd March, the NSPCC have re-launched the excellent Net Aware guide. Net Aware is a simple guide to the social networks, sites and apps children use, based on parents’ experiences and the views of young people. The NSPCC will also be launching a Net Aware app, which will be available to download from iTunes and Google play stores within the coming week. Bags2School Bags will be coming home with your child today. Please fill these with old clothes, shoes etc and bring them back into school by Monday 18th April at 9am. The bags are then weighed and the school will be paid by the amount collected.

There is now a new pedestrian gate at the main entrance to the school. The gate is on the left hand side of the main drive gate (if looking from the school building) and opens automatically from 8.40 - 9.10am and 3.10 - 3.40pm. If you need to access the school at any other time, please ring the bell on either of the pedestrian gates.

|25th February 2016||Parent Council Meeting Minutes February 2016||
Our most recent Parent Council meeting was held on Thursday 11th February. The next meeting will be held on Thursday 24th March. The main topic for discussion will be the new school website. Please take a look at the website and share your comments with your class representative. The 'letters to parents' section is still to be updated and will be in regular use from now on and the new 'alerts' section will be used to post Parentmail communications to back up those sent out. Are there any pages/information you would like added? Do you think it represents our school well/fairly?
We have decided that from now on, we will use parentmail, in addition to the parent council page on the website, to share minutes of meetings and topics for discussion. If you have any other issues you would like discussed, please contact Mrs Lonie or your representative.
